Alfred was the Son of the Artist Alfred Augustus Glendening.

Glendening Jnr. was taught by his Father,

He worked in both Oil and Watercolour, both as a Genre and Landscape Artist.

Alfred began Exhibiting at The Royal Academy in 1881 and exhibited 28 works there, including his most famous "Haymaking" which was purchased by The Chantrey Bequest in 1898.

He exhibited at all the leading London Galleries, and enjoyed a great deal of popularity in his time. Later in his career he became a Theatrical Scenery Painter.
