Artist: George Stanfield Walters RI (1838-1924) Entitled: Up the Maas with Wind & Tide Size: 31cm x 49cm Description: Watercolour signed, Exhibited at the Royal Institute Price: Sold Born in Liverpool, He was the eldest son of Samuel Walters, and was his pupil and assistant. His first picture to be accepted for The Royal Academy was in 1860 and he continued to exhibit there most years until his death in 1924. He was Elected RBA in 1867. He did not inherit his father's obsession with Ships and the Sea, and many of his works were of general Coastal Views. Titles at The Royal Academy mostly landscape and Coastal Views of Wales and Holland. Drawings by him can be seen @ The British Museum. The Victoria & Albert Museum.
