Artist: Cornelius Pearson (1805-91) & Thomas Francis Wainewright (1831-83) Entitled: Sheep in a Lakeland Landscape Size: 38 x 72cm Description: Watercolour, Signed by both artists & dated 1876 Price: £3,300 Cornelius Pearson (1805-1891) Thomas Francis Wainewright (fl. 1831 - 1883) Landscape and Topographical Painter, Engraver. Born in Boston, Lincs. Came to live in London at an early age, and apprenticed to an Engraver. Then he began to paint, mainly in watercolour. Collaborated with T.F.Wainewright on numerous paintings, Pearson would paint the landscape and Wainewright the Sheep or Cattle. Pearson was one of the oldest members of the Langham Sketching Club. He Exhibited 145 works at the Royal Society of British Artists - Suffolk Street. 4 works at the Royal Academy also at the New Watercolour Society and Elsewhere. Two works by him can be seen in the V & A. |
